Do I need a scientific background to read it?
No. The book is written for people who work with people, not for people who work in a laboratory. Every technical concept is explained when it first appears.
Does the book say that energy practices don’t work?
No. It says that some current explanations do not stand up to scrutiny, and it proposes more solid ones. The experience of practitioners is not called into question.
Is it the first or the second volume?
It is the first. The second is The Philosophy of the One. They can be read in any order.
