Breaking Free from Illness: Symbolic Liberation through Reconnection Healing

A Recurring Pattern in Reconnection Healing Sessions

After 15 years of facilitating Reconnective Healing, I have observed a recurring pattern that, although surprising, is essential to understanding the healing process: attachment to illness.

Many individuals come seeking relief, well-being, or healing. Yet, unconsciously, they hold on to their discomfort, sabotaging the acceptance of their recovery. This phenomenon is not just a whim; rather, it is often rooted in complex mental and emotional dynamics. During sessions of Reconnective Healing, these dynamics are addressed.

The Hidden Benefits of Illness

During an event in Stockholm, Sweden, I spoke with Dr. Eric Pearl, the founder of this extraordinary energy healing modality. I shared the story of my mother’s miraculous recovery—almost a 50% improvement in her vision. She had suffered from exudative maculopathy for ten years, leaving her blind. After receiving Reconnective sessions, she regained a significant portion of her sight.

I asked Dr. Pearl, “Why didn’t she recover 100% of her vision?”
He replied that I might not like the answer. He explained that my mother might have a hidden or apparent benefitfrom her illness. Often, illness becomes a way to keep the family close, to receive attention, love, or comfort that they might otherwise feel is lacking.

Pain—though paradoxical—can become a magnet that draws affection and concern from loved ones. Letting go of the illness would mean, for her, risking the loss of that source of attention and closeness—even if it’s rooted in suffering.

Telling the Illness Story

Another manifestation of this attachment is the compulsive need to tell others about the illness. This constant narrative, often filled with victimhood or self-pity, seeks to generate sympathy or validate their pain. Through the healing process offered in Reconnective Healing, individuals often find new ways to share their stories.

The illness becomes an identity, a story to tell that secures their place in conversation—and sometimes, a way to avoid responsibilities or expectations. Discomfort becomes a flag they wave, and releasing it would feel like losing a part of themselves.

“No One Can Cure Me”: The Subconscious Resistance

Finally, there are those who come to a session with the attitude of “no one can defeat my illness.” Unconsciously, they try to prove that their condition is so unique or untreatable that no healing method can help them. They just want to be left alone, as if they’ve already been written off.

This underlying challenge reflects not only a resistance to healing but also a deep identification with the role of being sick. Without realizing it, this psychosomatic attachment anchors the illness deeper into their lives, creating a cycle where the mind itself becomes the saboteur—one that prevents them from recognizing that healing has occurred through Reconnective Healing.

It’s as if part of them refuses to let go of what they already know, no matter how painful it is. Reconnective Healing encourages releasing those hurts.

Healing Goes Beyond Frequencies

In Reconnection Healing, my role is not only to facilitate the healing frequencies for my clients. It is also to help people become aware of these attachments.

Understanding that illness is not just physical—but often a reflection of deeper emotional and mental patterns—is the first step toward true liberation.

The path to complete healing requires not just the desire to feel well, but also the willingness to release what binds us, even when that discomfort has paradoxically provided us with some form of apparent or hidden benefit.
